Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Lead Facilities Technician is a senior field-based facilities professional responsible for supporting the repair, maintenance, and operational reliability of Flynn Planet Fitness clubs while assisting the Facilities Manager with daily execution and special projects.

 

This role provides hands-on maintenance support, assists in the development and guidance of Facilities Technicians, and helps uphold preventive maintenance standards, safety expectations, and operational consistency across the assigned portfolio. The Lead Facilities Technician serves as a technical resource and peer leader while supporting club operations in alignment with the member experience.

 

Skills Required

  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills across general building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, IT and basic carpentry.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support, coach, and collaborate with peers and operations leadership.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, work order systems, and facilities best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and promote accountability, urgency, and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel regularly and respond to urgent after-hours maintenance issues when necessary.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school education preferred.
  • 3+ years of facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience, preferably in a multi-site environment.
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring technicians or field teams preferred.
  • Experience using CMMS or service ticketing systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel regularly.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 Repair & Maintenance (40%)

  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance across an assigned portfolio of clubs.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, equipment, fixtures, and general facility issues.
  • Support emergency response efforts and ensure timely resolution of maintenance concerns that impact club operations or member experience.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness across all assigned facilities.

 

Peer Support & Field Execution (25%)

  • Provide day-to-day field support and technical guidance to Facilities Technicians.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in prioritizing work orders, coordinating repairs, and executing maintenance initiatives.
  • Support special projects, re-equips, vendor coordination, and club improvement efforts as assigned.
  • Promote consistency in maintenance execution, urgency, and quality standards across the team.

 

Training & Development Support (25%)

  • Assist in onboarding and training Facilities Technicians on maintenance procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide coaching and peer mentorship to support technician development and performance improvement.
  • Partner with Facilities Managers to identify development opportunities and reinforce operational expectations.
  • Support learning and development initiatives, including assistance with technician performance reviews and skills assessments.
  • Operate within the facilities budget to help support short and long-range maintenance.
  • Uphold compliance requirements across fire/life safety and other building-related standards and inspections.


Travel & Global Support (10%)

  • Travel as needed to support regional or company-wide maintenance initiatives, projects, or operational needs.
  • Provide temporary field support to clubs outside the assigned market during periods of elevated business need, staffing gaps, or special projects.

 

Physical Demands

  • Bending and kneeling while performing services.
  • Able to lift over 75lbs.
  • Comfortable with working on ladders up to 14’ and scissor lifts up to 25’.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
